One fine day I saw a Bearded dragon in my garden and was eating one of my tiny succulents. Then a thought crossed my mind, are succulents safe for bearded dragons? Then I did some research and found some interesting things about these reptiles. Nowadays Bearded dragons are popular pets among pet lovers.

This succulent is considered safe for reptiles and it is a non-toxic plant. So bearded dragons can have a bite of this plant. Also, there is one thing to take care of while growing Haworthia is that they need fast-draining soil or else they might die due to the dampness of the soil.

9. Stapelia 

Stapelia is a beautiful looking plant that has star-shaped flowers. It is a unique cactus that could be a great addition to your reptile garden. They produce very attractive flowers in red, yellow, and purple colors. Those flowers have a sweetened smell and some flowers have a putrid smell. 

This plant loves partial sunlight and also has the ability to propagate from cuttings. Stapelia cannot survive in a freezing cold climate so they might need some care in such a climate.

Are all succulents safe for Bearded dragons?

No, as per my knowledge, not all the succulents are safe for the bearded dragons. Toxic succulents are not edible and can harm your reptiles. Here are a few of the poisonous succulents that may harm your reptiles.

  1. Jade Plant-  ( Little poisonous )
  2. Kalanchoe ( Little poisonous ) 
  3. Amaryllis  ( Very poisonous )
  4. Euphorbia ( Very poisonous )
